Sunnyvale: Our Commitment to Transparent Community News

Be Patient, I Just Started

We have a great community, great schools, and great people here in Sunnyvale. There’s also occasionally a bit of nonsense, and allegations of shady business but no proof. We are all busy with our lives, our families, and our own small circles. I don’t have time to go to every (okay hardly any) Town Council meetings, PTA meetings, 4B sessions, and everything else that keeps our town running.

I’m putting together this website to address a particular batch of nonsense–what I’m calling CricketGate, but going forward I’d like to partner with others in the town to provide fair, accurate, reliable reporting from within the community, so that allegations of a $40 million cricket field complex don’t even take root in the first place. I aim to provide a reliable source of information that highlights both local events and important developments in our town, beyond what Facebook can provide.

I care about transparency and integrity. Smear campaigns bother me. I have no vested interest in whoever wins our mayoral election, I don’t work for either campaign, and I’m not about partisan politics. Nobody’s paying me to do this–I bought the website domain today for $5, and I’m paying $10/month to host it. I have nothing to gain, and all of my free time to lose, by doing this website.

Anyone who works with me in the future to contribute articles for this site will also need to be nonpartisan and free of conflicts of interest on the issues they cover. In the future, maybe this site can be a place where we can get a fair interview of council members, town staff, or community members who want to present how issues in the town affect them (surely someone wants to talk about Barnes Bridge…).

Celebrating Our Community Spirit

Sunnyvale is not just a place to live; it’s a thriving community in a terrific location to raise our families. We love our neighbors and the unique spirit that binds us. The goal of this site is to foster a positive environment where verified residents of Sunnyvale are encouraged to participate and share their thoughts. By connecting our residents in a persistent and credible news feed, I hope we can build a platform that reflects the true essence of our town.

Striving for a Bright Future

Shady politics undermine our values. If we can get past the nonsense that has consumed our time and energy, I really believe we can make Sunnyvale the best small town in North Texas. Expect insightful analysis on local events and initiatives aimed at enhancing our community. If I get something wrong, tell me and I’ll correct it. Together, we can ensure our beloved town stays vibrant, informed, and welcoming.

-Ben
