The Town of Sunnyvale will hold an election for Town Council to fill the vacancy created by Mark Eldridge’s July 7th resignation. If you are interested in running, the full packet of information and required forms is available on the Town of Sunnyvale website (this link). You must submit your application to run by Wednesday, September 3rd, at 5:00 PM to get on the ballot. And just to be clear, I’m not running for Town Council myself, but I hope we get someone really amazing!

In order to qualify for a spot on Town Council, you must also:

  • Be a qualified voter in the Town and State;
  • Have resided continuously in the corporate limits of the Town for twelve (12) months immediately preceding the date of the election (Nov. 4th);
  • Not be in violation of any provision in the Town Charter;
  • Be twenty-one (21) years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election

If you do decide to run for Town Council, please let me know at ben@sunnyvalecricket.com! I would like to feature each of the candidates on the Sunnyvale Cricket, and I’ll send you a questionnaire so voters can understand some basics about your background and where you stand on key issues for the town.

I sincerely hope we have a clean campaign, focused on the facts and the real issues our town is wrestling with. Best of luck to all the candidates!
